We are searching for ESL teachers who aren’t afraid to go beyond traditional settings. English Outdoors classes blend language learning and city excursions, offering students a truly immersive experience.

Instead of a traditional classroom, EO’s English classes take place all over the city. Class locations include a mix of indoor and outdoor venues and have been carefully chosen based on comfort, space, and ease of access. All classes are capped at a maximum of 8 students to ensure there are plenty of opportunities to practice speaking.

Classes focus on authentic speaking practice, improving fluency, and building confidence. Lessons are carefully curated and include NYC themed topics with on-the-move city excursions (such as walking tours, landmarks, museums, and more) built right in.

Available 2026 Programs:
English Outdoors offers only seasonal, part-time teaching contracts for all 2026 programs, including:

·      School Groups (1 to 2-week contracts, year-round)

·      Teen English Summer Camp (2 to 6-week contracts, June 29 – August 7)

·      Young Adults English Summer Camp (2-week contracts, July 13-24)

·      Adult Classes (1 to 4-week contracts, April-December)

Perfect for K-12 teachers looking for summer work or traveling teachers in between contracts!

Starting Rate: $28/hour
Teachers are paid 16-20 hours per week on average and are reimbursed for subway costs.  Paid teacher training, detailed lesson plans, and ongoing support will be provided.

English Outdoors is searching for a Head Teacher for our Teen English Summer Camp (June 29 – August 7). Head Teachers teach a regular class and provide on-site leadership and guidance to the other ESL teachers.

Key Responsibilities:

-      Provide on-site teacher support

-      Assist Program Manager with day-to-day scheduling and logistics

-      Conduct teacher observations

-      Work with the Academic Manager on academic related issues (ex: teacher resources, student levels, lesson plans, etc.)

The Ideal Candidate:

·      Is a highly qualified, experienced, and confident ESL teacher

·      Enjoys working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment

·      Is excited to meet people from around the world

·      Is confident navigating NYC

·      Has strong communication and interpersonal skills

·      Has strong organizational and time management skills

·      Is confident in a leadership role

·      Has strong problem-solving skills

·      Has managing experience (preferred, but not necessary)

Position Details:

Working Dates (approx.): June 15 – August 7, 2026

Starting Rate: $30/hour
Head Teachers are paid 20-25 hours per week on average. This includes a mix of teaching hours, hours providing additional support to teachers, teacher observations, administrative work, and virtual meetings.

Join English Outdoors as a Camp Counselor and help teens explore New York City. Camp Counselors support students throughout the program, helping ensure a safe, fun, and memorable experience.

Responsibilities:

• Supervising students during daily activities and excursions

• Assisting with logistics, transportation, and meals

• Supporting group dynamics and student well-being

• Acting as a point of contact for students and staff

The Ideal Candidate:

Energetic, responsible, and organized individuals who enjoy working with teens in a fast-paced, international environment. Previous experience in camps, education, or youth programs is a plus.

• July 12 – July 25

Approx. Weekly Schedule:

• Mon–Fri: 12:30 PM – 5:30 PM

• Some Tue/Thu/Fri: 12:30 PM – 8:30 PM

• Saturday: 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM or ~3-hour airport transfer

• Sunday: 2:00 PM – 5:30 PM or ~3-hour airport transfer

• Time off: 1 day off/week

Responsibilities:

• Coordinate daily camp schedules and activities

• Coordinate airport transfers

• Support counselors and residence managers

• Assist with logistics, transportation, and meals

• Monitor student well-being and group dynamics

• Act as a point of contact for staff and parents

Energetic, organized, and responsible individuals who enjoy working with teens in a fast-paced, international environment. Previous experience in camps, youth programs, or education is a plus.

Residence Managers are responsible for student safety, well-being, and supervision at the residence. This role is essential to creating a welcoming and structured living environment.

This position requires staying on site 24/7 (sleeping at the residence, provided by English Outdoors).

Meals included: Breakfast + dinner daily, plus lunch when students are eating on site.

Responsibilities:

• Supervise students at the residence

• Manage check-ins and check-outs

• Oversee curfews and daily routines

• Coordinate with counselors and program managers

• Support evening activities held at the residence

• Coordinate meals

• Support airport transfers if needed

• Handle issues or emergencies

The Ideal Candidate:

Responsible, approachable, and experienced working with teens. Previous experience in residential programs, camps, or student housing is a plus.
